I met this chick on FB
Sweet cute fluffy cheeks
With mini round buttocks and curvy hips
She had a bubbly personality
I could tell by the smile of her pretty
lips
In her beautiful images
Her pretty pics
That was around 2008
We started with a chat as FB friends
Then our chats got hot and steamy but we
remained as friends
Her funny but intelligent persona would
mesmerize the core of my soul
Juxtaposing
Altering
Rearranging my mood swings
Rejuvenating humour on the palm of my
soul
It was always a pleasure for me to
treasure our chats
Because her humanity
Had special connection with the human in
me
In the advent of time
We agreed on a special meeting
But before then
It was just chats and all that
It wasn’t long before I discovered that
she was from the middle class
The low self-esteem in me couldn’t
permit me to partake in that meeting
I sent her from pillar to post
With retarded excuses at most
But with the inspiration I drew from my
peer’s motivation
I accepted her invitation
But the rendezvous was too much for me
Because she suggested PE
I was broke at that time
I couldn't afford to pay a fee
And my pride could not allow me to have
her as financier
I turned down her offer even though I
felt like a moron
She gave me a middle finger and said:
“Don’t say I never made an effort!”
But my conscience tells me that deep
inside her heart, she said: “I’m not your surrogate mother, neither your soul
mate or provider, nor your clandestine lover.
I’m in it for fun. Just to pass time.
And leave you stranded with broken heart thereafter.”
In the advent of time
‘Cause only time can tell
Time passed
Time left the lad in me stranded in
stagnant motion with no progression
Time cursed
Time damned this lad
Time left this lad lingering on the
gates of hell
Couple of years later
When I was paying servile duties in the
security department at Cape Town International Airport
Exactly during the 2010 Soccer World Cup
On that evening, I was kickin’ it night
shift
I longed for lunch break
To break the fast at KFC hence I got
paid
The right time eventually arrived
Time came
Time for break
Time to break the fast like I’m insane
And in the midst of my journey
I was stroked by the familiar face
She looked pale underneath the dim and
bright lights of Cape Town International Airport on that winter evening
That winter night
Our eyes met as I was trying to decipher
her image
And we recognized each other
simultaneously
She burst out with laughter
She was walking with her friends
I ran like a tiger
I couldn't face her
I felt ashamed
Partly, due to my occupation
But my conscience tells me that deep
inside her heart, she said: “I’m not your surrogate mother, neither your soul
mate or provider, nor your clandestine lover.
I’m in it for fun. Just to pass time.
And leave you stranded with broken heart thereafter.”
Maybe my conscience misleads me
Maybe she saw a gentleman in me
Three years later
I saw her picture with a huge belly
And I knew
That she’s gone
